Email on your Mobile Device
Your Benedictine email account is accessible from many types of devices, including cell phones and tablets. The instructions for connecting to your account vary based on the type of device and operating system, but here are the general instructions applicable to most devices.
To get started, you'll need to add an account to your device:
- In iOS, Settings | Mail | Add Account (PDF Instructions Below)
- In most Android versions, Settings | Accounts | Add Accounts (PDF Instructions Below)
For the account type, choose Exchange.
Use your complete email address (e.g., b1234567@ben.edu) and password when prompted for account information.
Update Your Password on Your Mobile Device
After you have reset your password you use for your Benedictine email account, you must update your password on your mobile device if you use it to check your email.
iOS (iPhones, iPads)
iPhones will prompt you to enter your new password after it detects a password has changed. Apple changed iOS and no longer has a setting for the password you initially entered when you set up the connection. Instead, once it tries to connect to your email account and receives a password error notification from the server you will be prompted to enter your new password. Not ideal but that's how Apple does it.
Android (phones, tablets)
Note that the process needed to update your password on an Android phone will vary with the phone model, Android version, etc. Search online for instructions for your version of Android.
We recommend that you use the Outlook app, available free from the Play store, to connect to and manage your Benedictine email account. There is no place to update your password within the Outlook app. The app will prompt you for your password when it detects that the password stored is no longer valid.
