FAQ
The following is a mix of questions that we've received from the community as well as anticipated questions concerning our migration to MS Teams.
Does MS Teams have the same capabilities and components as Zoom Webinars?
We have the "Standard" license as the default MS Teams license for staff, faculty, and students. With this comes limited webinar capabilities and, for most users, this is an upgrade in features from Zoom.
For those departments and people who had a Zoom webinar license, IT will automatically upgrade them to the "Premium" license which provides all the same features and services that were available with the Zoom webinar license.
We often need to do online meetings with transfer students and out of state freshmen before they are enrolled. Will they have any issues trying to join a Teams meeting?
We have configured Teams to allow external guests to join meetings, so they should not experience any problems with joining your meetings.
Will MS Teams be integrated into D2L, as Zoom is now?
Yes, Teams will have the same level of integration as Zoom.
How do I create a regularly scheduled meeting time for a group of people?
Teams is fully integrated into Outlook. If you need to create a standing meeting for a group of people, create the meeting in Outlook, set the recurrence schedule, add the attendees, and then toggle the "Teams meeting" switch. This will automatically create the reusable link and be included in the Outlook invitation to the attendees.
